One of my favorite cold weather meals to make is a delicious pot of chili for the whole family to enjoy. With my favorite beans, seasoned ground beef, and tomatoes all brought together to keep us nice and warm when the temperatures drop outside.

I first start off by browing a pound of ground beef. Once fully cooked I drain the grease and sit aside. In the same pot I add a diced tomato, a teaspoon of minced garlic, and dash of salt. I fry them together until the tomatoes are softened then I return the beef to the pan. Next I add a 16 ounce can of tomato sauce to the beef and start to bring to a boil. While that heats up, I add my chili seasonings (cumin, chile powder, onion powder, paprika, and oregano) and stir it all in.

Next I will add 2 cans of beans. I like to use a can of navy beans (drained) and a can of black beans (undrained). I will bring to a soft boil for a couple of minutes then turn the heat down to simmer for roughly 5 minutes. After this is done the chili is ready to be served warm. I love serving mine over corn chips and then topping with shredded cheese and diced onions.

This meal is simple to make, loved by everyone in my household, and does not cost much to make. I hope when you make it, you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.
